Our world, indeed, is changed as we arrive at the peak of this Lenten season.
Today, Holy Thursday, we are called to see and experience the humility and selfless giving of Jesus, as He washed the feet of His disciples gathered at the table. In many ways, the countless acts of selfless love and service happening at Catholic Charities after our early March tornadoes and during this pandemic are not all that different.
Although our ways of working with clients are very different right now, our doors are, figuratively speaking, still open. Our staff, whether those essential and on the front-line or those supporting our efforts from their homes, are committed now more than ever, fully present to those struggling with economic uncertainties, food insecurity, the threat of housing loss, emotional pain, and stress from isolation.
• Emergency food assistance is still available for those struggling with hunger uncertainties.
• Living at Home staff continues to call and check in on seniors living alone.
• Families can now receive ongoing counsel through telephone and video conferencing.
• Emergency Financial assistance, made available through the COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership of the office of Nashville Mayor John Cooper and United Way of Greater Nashville, is going out to those whose livelihoods are on hold.
We will be closed from noon today, until 8:00AM on Tuesday, April 14, in order to allow our staff to pause and participate in the most holy of times in our Church, the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday - Good Friday - Easter).
If you are in need of assistance during this unprecedented time, please go to our website (www.cctenn.org) or call us at 615-352-3087.
