Jo Ann Waikel, Clinical Therapist, LPC/MHSP
Ms. Waikel has a great deal of experience and uses a variety of therapy modalities in her sessions. She is trained in EMDR (trauma Recovery treatment), EFT (Emotional Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Family Systems work and had served for 15 years on TEAM of her local Celebrate Recovery Program (addictions, hurts and hangups). She is also a Certified Grief and Loss Counselor. She works with clients experiencing issues such as but not limited to anxiety disorders, depression and grief and loss therapy. Early in her career, she worked with children who had been exposed to trauma and then transitioned to working with adults, couples, and families. Additionally, she has experience in working with individuals impacted by disasters which included providing services to individuals affected by the trauma of 9/11 as well as Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
Ms. Waikel has been employed with Catholic Charities of Tennessee Inc since 2002 for a total of 22 years and was a career-military spouse until her husband’s death in 2001. She is the mother of three adult sons and grandmother to nine grandchildren. Ms. Waikel attended Austin Peay State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Waikel went on to Trevecca Nazarene University and obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology. In her free time she enjoys walking, watching birds at her birdfeeder, and is an avid reader.
