Catholic Charities at C. E. McGruder serves all of North Nashville from a central location on 25th Avenue.

In this one location, North Nashville residents find help with the many services that Catholic Charities offers as well as those from community partners.

Many of the staff who work at McGruder are North Nashville residents and leaders in the community.

McGruder frequently hosts community meetings and offers residents recreational opportunities, including fields, courts, and a community garden

Co-locating Partners at C.E McGruder

  • Bhegani Education – education opportunities aimed to close the STEM gap
  • Black Mental Health Village – whole-person healing and mental health education through community-led initiatives and group support for the Black and minoritized communities impacted by trauma, poverty, or lack of mental health care access.
  • Department of Human Services – SNAP enrollment and recertification assistance with DHS representative on the first Monday of each month.
  • Free Hearts – support, education, and advocacy for families affected by incarceration, aiming to reunite and maintain family unity
  • Judge Dinkins Educational Center – Work training for high school students who are not engaged in the traditional learning environment.
  • McGruder Social Practice Artist Residency – opportunities for artists to engage with Catholic Charities, co-locating partners, local HBCUs, and the North Nashville community, fostering collaborations on social justice, history, and cultural preservation
  • MyBaby4Me – community program focused on lowering the rate of infant mortality within the community, through one on-one support, weekly group meetings, material support
  • Music City Community Court – initiatives focused on preventative, diversionary, and restorative justice and uplifting marginalized individuals, with Judge Rachel Bell presiding
  • Nashville Food Project community garden
  • Nashville Soccer Club – opportunities for youth in the community to learn the game and play soccer with help from the NSC team
  • Preston Taylor Ministries – afterschool tutoring and summer programs for children and youth
