The unpaid internship program at Catholic Charities is available as a component of your education and professional development. Our program is flexible to meet your academic and internship needs.
Catholic Charities is committed to providing you with appropriate learning opportunities, timely and unbiased feedback, and a fair and challenging workplace in which to complete your field practice or service-learning requirement. Our goal is that you will have an internship in which you feel respected as an individual, encouraged in your educational and professional growth, and recognized for your contribution.
We are able to host internships across many disciplines including social work, psychology, sociology, foreign language, political science, business, and many others. Please let us know what your degree learning and practice requirements are.
The following is an example of experiences and practice for the social work and counseling discipline.
MASTER LEVEL INTERNSHIPS
- Assist counselors and co-facilitate individual and group counseling with adults and/or children.
- Assist completing assessments.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling.
- Develop and implement intervention plans.
- Participate in department meetings.
- Gain skills in electronic documentation.
BACHELOR LEVEL INTERNSHIPS
- Shadow counselors.
- Assist completing assessments.
- Provide case management.
- Complete intakes and make referrals.
- Assist with development and implementation of intervention plans.
- Participate in department meetings.
- Gain skills in electronic documentation.
