Program Manager, Catholic Charities at C.E. McGruder Family Resource Center

Catholic Charities is seeking candidates for the position of Program Manager at our Catholic Charities at C. E. McGruder Family Resource Center in North Nashville. A local resident or someone with extensive North Nashville/37208 community knowledge is required. This is a full-time position working 37-1/2 hours per week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with some flexibility required.

The primary functions of the Program Manager are assisting families with navigating the services available for creating a successful life plan while managing onsite multi-disciplinary team of social workers, health care providers, volunteers, and graduate level interns along with related support services to ensure family stability and sustainability. The Program Manager also coordinates with co-located and other local partners who provide additional wraparound services.

Refugee Benefits Eligibility Specialist

Primary function of the Refugee Benefits Eligibility Specialist is providing administrative support within the TOR department and to subgrantees to facilitate refugees’ access to benefits and services. Refugee Benefits Eligibility Specialist responds to inquiries from subgrantees regarding client eligibility; reviews and verifies submitted data; prepares authorization for program payrolls; compiles and creates reports for TOR, subgrantees, and stakeholders; and ensures compliance with all requirements outlined by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Refugee Benefits Specialist

The Refugee Benefits Specialist will provide information and assistance to refugees, asylees, entrants, and foreign-born human trafficking victims for enrollment in the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) benefits for which they are eligible; conduct community outreach among the immigrant communities to promote awareness of State benefits and eligibility requirements; create and provide training and assistance to DHS employees regarding these immigrant populations and their eligibility for benefits; and serve as the main point of contact for DHS and eligible clients for assistance, enrollment/re-enrollment, and problem-solving in regards to DHS benefits.

Refugee Youth Mentors

Are you looking for an opportunity to be a positive role model in a young person’s life and support the refugee population in Nashville? Apply to be a Refugee Youth Mentor today!

Here at Catholic Charities, the Young Adult Refugee Youth Mentoring Program caters to the needs of youth and young adults ages 15-24 who are working towards their academic, social-emotional, and vocational goals. We are seeking caring mentors who can work with mentees on goal-setting, academic help and college application support, social-emotional learning, and getting adjusted to Nashville. You will receive training before being matched as well as ongoing support from Catholic Charities for the duration of your mentorship.

Hours are flexible, and virtual or in-person options are available.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Commit to six months of mentoring for 1-2 hours/week
  • Background check, fingerprinting, and pre-match training
  • Sincere desire to be a supportive figure in the life of a refugee youth
  • Respect people of different cultural backgrounds

Healthy Living Specialist - AmeriCorps

NOTE: This position is provided through AmeriCorps. Applicants must be AmeriCorps members.

The Health Living Specialist will provide weekly nutrition classes to students of Catholic Charities’ Culinary Training Academy and others as possible. They will manage class scheduling and instruction, volunteer recruitment and management, and accommodating student needs. They will conduct assessments of learners, record results, and use evaluations to strengthen services. They will document clients’ participation and understanding of topics through case notes and prepare reports for funders as needed.

The Health Living Specialist will use the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Life education program designed to change behaviors regarding food and nutrition.

The Health Living Specialist will demonstrate cooking techniques and prepare delicious and healthy food with the help of volunteers, enabling clients to acquire new skills to prepare more nutritious meals.

The Health Living Specialist will provide culturally relevant healthy recipes to clients, increase their level of comfort with healthy foods, and educate clients on budgeting and shopping for healthy foods.
