Nurturing Parenting

Catholic Charities believes that every parent wants to do the best they can for their children.  Parenting is challenging and we are here to offer support.  We offer a free, virtual parenting class for caregivers in Montgomery, Davidson, Sumner, Wilson, Rutherford, Coffee, Maury and Putnam counties.

Our classes use the Nurturing Parent curriculum which has shown to be effective in strengthening parent-child relationships, teaching parents what to expect when children enter different developmental stages, and training parents in positive parenting strategies.

Our classes run weekly for seven weeks and cover the topics of:

• The philosophy and practices of nurturing parenting
• Child development
• Building self worth
• Praising children
• Communicating with respect
• Alternatives to spanking
• Dealing with stress
