The number of families struggling to make ends meet each month is increasing, as is the number of homeless individuals in Nashville. For over 25 years, Loaves and Fishes, a community-wide initiative involving 23 volunteer groups from various denominations, schools, and associations, has been addressing the growing needs of the hungry in Nashville.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, the Loaves and Fishes program offers breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to anyone in need, without restrictions based on religion, race, or proof of need. The program operates in the Parish Center of Holy Name Catholic Church at 508 Main Street (map).
Each week, approximately 600 meals are served in a welcoming environment. At Loaves and Fishes, those who come to eat are treated as our guests. Additionally, guests of the program are provided with referrals to appropriate services for housing, extra food, and clothing within the community.
