Welcome to Pathways to Possibilities

Welcome to day 1 of Pathways to Possibilities presented by First Horizon, the annual fundraiser for Catholic Charities, Diocese of Nashville.

Pathways will once again be a virtual event this year, but we look forward to gathering together soon! At the same time, Catholic Charities somehow feels more connected than ever to Middle Tennessee’s Catholic community given the spiritual journey we have all been on this past year.

We want to say a special thank you to The Most Reverend J. Mark Spalding, Bishop of the Diocese of Nashville, for his unwavering leadership in difficult times and his support of Catholic Charities. He is an inspiration to us all every day. We are blessed that he agreed to share part of his personal story of service to others during this year’s event.

The theme for this year’s event is “Love, Hope, and Healing.” These three important words in our new tagline represent the ethos of Catholic Charities now and into the future.

This past year taught us that any one of us can experience displacement and disruption – sometimes on a moment’s notice and through no fault of our own. Being displaced is an awful, lonely feeling. “Love, Hope, and Healing” is how Catholic Charities responds, whether they are displaced by civil war in another country, a pandemic, a natural disaster, or a family tragedy or crisis.

We bring all this together on the final day with a special video featuring three displaced people we helped: a tornado survivor, a refugee who now gives back to others, and the manager of two businesses destroyed by the December 25 bombing in Downtown Nashville.

The Book of Sirach tells us “A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds it finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth.”

Catholic Charities has been and always will be a faithful friend to so many every day. And yet we could do none of it without faithful friends like you who support us every day. Thank you for giving us strength and our shelter – our treasure – in a very tumultuous year.
